A core component of an organization is business resilience, which represents a key competence as it enables adaptation, recovery, and thriving in the face of challenges, unforeseen events, or crises. For those tasked with managing resilience, empathy and generosity emerge as crucial skills in this context.

The definition and formulation of a contingency strategy require pragmatic solutions and the ability to consider the diverse needs and perspectives present in the business environment and surroundings. It is essential to recognize that there is no universal solution applicable in every context. Therefore, those responsible for resilience must also be prepared to take risks and make choices that may not be right but justifiable, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a business environment that may require drastic changes in the face of crises and sudden shifts due to exogenous or endemic factors.

Above all, it is imperative to operate with generosity, recognizing that resilient action is inherently connected to the common good, which implies taking responsibility for and towards others, providing a positive contribution to the community and the entire surrounding environment. Generosity is a driving force that promotes the organization’s survival and enhances its positive influence in the surrounding landscape. It cannot be taught because it is an integral part of character that develops through growth, observation, and a disposition towards others.

Generosity reminds us that “the next person could be me” and that it can be contagious and should be placed as the foundation in relationships for the management of a resilient plan. Artificial intelligence enters this framework as an ally, a key tool through data analysis, a tool for shaping a more resilient and common good-oriented business future.

AI can play a fundamental role through:

  • Predictive analysis, which enables the identification of critical situations and suggests preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of disruptions.
  • The opportunity to have real-time data regarding surrounding events during crisis management. Through continuous performance analysis and model updating, AI-based solutions can improve over time, ensuring a more effective response to future challenges.
  • Support for post-event analysis and assisting in managing actions to be taken after an event, identifying root causes, pinpointing weaknesses, and suggesting improvements to strengthen business resilience in the future.
When speaking to an AI, one should say: “Everyday is like survival, you’re my lover, not my rival” (Boy George).
